The United States Open Tennis Championships, more commonly known as the US Open, is the last Grand Slam event of the year. The event was first held in 1881 in Newport, Rhode Island thus making it the second oldest tennis major after Wimbledon. The US Open was subsequently held in Forest Hill, New York before moving to its present venue at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, where it is now held on “DecoTurf” hard courts. The Arthur Ashe stadium, which is the largest tennis venue in the world, plays a fitting host to the finals of the US Open. Whether it is the showpiece matches played late into the night under floodlights or the bold fashion statements made by players or just the sheer thrill of being in New York, the city that never sleeps, the US Open gives you all that and more.
