Overview

The Washington Open, officially called the Citi Open after its present sponsor, is a leading hard court tennis tournament held in Washington D.C., the capital city of the United States. The Citi Open is an ATP World Tour 500 event on the men’s tour and an International Event on the WTA (women’s) tour and is a member of the Emirates Airline US Open Series. The men’s event was held for the first time in 1969 while the women’s event shifted to the present venue in 2012.  The tournament has always attracted a top field; previous winners have included legends of the game like Andre Agassi, Stefan Edberg, Ivan Lendl and Jimmy Connors. Washington D.C. is a popular tourist destination and offers a wide range of attractions and activities.
