Held in Pilton, in Somerset, England, the five-day music festival attracts on an average ~175,000 visitors annually. Inspired by the transcontinental success of Woodstock the festival was started in 1970 by a group of 14 music enthusiasts. Since then, Glastonbury has provided the stage to some great performances by some of the most iconic names in music including T-Rex, Joan Baez, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lenny Kravitz, Paul McCartney, Oasis, Pulp, Radiohead, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi. In addition to contemporary music, the festival also hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and other arts.
