Overview

Davis Cup began in 1900 as a competition between USA and Great Britain. The tournament was originally known as the International Lawn Tennis Challenge, but soon became known as the Davis Cup after the trophy donated by Dwight Davis, one of the founders of the event. It’s now the world’s largest annual international team competition in sport, with 126 nations taking part in 2015. Davis Cup is structured with a 16-nation World Group, contested over four weekends during the year. The remaining countries are then divided into three regional Zones depending on their location.

The finals of the 2016 Davis Cup will be played between Croatia and Argentina on the hard, indoor courts of Arena Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia.
