On your market tour, you will visit the Borough market which is Britain’s most renowned and oldest food market. It is an absolute treat for any food lover visiting London! Simon thoroughly enjoys all aspects of the cooking process, from sourcing the freshest ingredients to cutting vegetables the right way to using the appropriate temperature and cooking techniques. He believes that only if the entire process is carefully curated is a meal enjoyable and memorable. Given his vast professional experience Simon can cook anything but prefers to follow seasonality, and is a loyal supporter of organic ingredients with a preference for the finest and freshest ingredients. This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Your experience begins with a walk through Borough market. During your one hour market tour, walk through the many stalls heaped with fresh produce, cheese, gourmet food and beautiful patisseries. Hear stories of the the history of the market as you stop at a few stalls to sample food and purchase ingredients for your cooking class. After you have finished with the market tour, you will make your way back to Simon's home. Simon has a fully operational kitchen which is perfect for a hands-on cooking class. During your 1-2 hour class you will learn to make two to three dishes, using seasonal ingredients. Simon will introduce you to the dishes that you will be preparing and the ingredients used. Then help him to wash, cut and prepare the meal that you will later share at the dining table.

Important: Unfortunately, Simon does not offer this experience to solo travelers, even if you're willing to pay for two. Also, this experience is not suitable for children below 13 years of age. Please note that DB can offer a vegetarian meal on request. And the activity ends at Simon's home.

My sister and I were on a holiday in London. We met our host/guide, DB, at Borough Market and had a lovely and informative tour of the Market during which he purchased some ingredients for our meal together. Afterward, we took a quick train ride to DB’s home where we were treated to a fun hour or so of meal prep where DB and his charming assistant, Sammy, walked us through the menu and showed us how each course was prepared while we enjoyed a delightful glass of wine. You can participate as much or as little as you like in the actual food prep but much of the work is done ahead of time so that you can just enjoy the experience of visiting DB’s cozy home and hearing his very entertaining stories of an amazing career in the hospitality industry. Thereafter we went into the dining room and enjoyed a multi course, scrumptious meal in a warm and inviting setting. The food was wonderful but the highlight of the evening was spending time with DB and Sammy and DB’s wife, who are all so gracious and hospitable that you feel as though you have known them for years. If you are so lucky to have time to spend with these long-time Londoners in their beautiful home and share an afternoon or evening with them, you are guaranteed an extraordinarily memorable meal and experience - lucky you!

Talking with DB about his life and cooking adventures was fantastic. We met and shopped at the Borough Market which was wonderful. We then proceeded to take to train to DB’s lovely home to cook Rack of Lamb (wow!) and tasty vegetables. The food, tour, cooking insights and conversations was tremendous!

We had the time of our lives. Our Chef, Simon was fantastic! We so enjoyed our time at the Borough Market, the cab ride to Simon’s home & a wonderful evening of cooking, dining & drinking great foods & wine. We’ve gained a friendship with Mr & Mrs DB, loved meeting Sammy & thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. A night we will never forget!

Host Simon DB is an experienced food professional full of great stories and foodie information. Started with a fun tour of Borough Market that is definitely worth a visit with lots of tasting treats. Then on to Simon’s characterful home where we met his charming wife Nikki and embarked on our cooking experience. Suffice to say some cooking was done, a wonderful meal emerged, conversation flowed with lots of wine and a great time was had by all. Highly recommended! Des & Olga

DB was an incredibly fun and knowledgeable host. Very personable and funny. There was never a dull moment and he made us feel very comfortable and at home. Food was superb and came away feeling like we'd learned more than a few things. Would 100% recommend!! The only slight hiccup is that communication through TripAdvisor is not great. Better to contact Simon directly- much easier that way.

From start to finish, my Borough Market Tour with Simon DB was the best. It was fun, informative, I found delicious produce, including the most incredible sausages from Ginger Pig and the cooking experience was unique. It was like meeting up with an old friend and I'd do it again in a heart beat ... apologies for taking so long to post a review.

Welcoming and hospitable Chef Simon offers an exciting, informative, and laughter filled day. London’s Borough Market – so much to see, hear, smell and taste and Simon expertly leads you through it all with stories and history. Then off to Chef’s cosy, welcoming kitchen, which is a gem. Ah-maazing food and wine - some of which was purchased during the tour of Borough Market. Simon guides and teaches with an ever ready smile and clear and easy to follow instructions. Once the meal was cooked it was served with lovely presentation on the beautifully laid table in the dining room. Our host’s attentiveness created the perfect atmosphere. The whole experience from start to finish was wonderful. I cannot recommend this tour or the charming Simon highly enough.
