See British tradition come to life on this fully-guided Changing of the Guard walking tour that ensures you get the very best views of this spectacular ceremony!  Don’t make the same mistake that so many visitors often – and understandably – make, believing the prime vantage point from where to experience this time-honoured tradition is outside Buckingham Palace.

These spectators’ enthusiasm quickly turns to disappointment when they realise that they have waited for hours only to see the very end of this unique performance, their view often blocked by the throngs of people crowding around them. Instead, follow your guide on a dynamic journey that takes in the entire Changing of the Guard from beginning to end as they expertly navigate the crowds to take you to the best – and most photographable – viewpoints.

Stop At: Changing of the Guard, Constitution Hill Buckingham Palace, London SW1A 1AA England

Your regal tour begins at the Duke of York Column, located in St. James’, where you’ll greet your guide, don a personal headset, and receive a historical overview of the Changing of the Guard ceremony.

Many tourists make the mistake of viewing the ceremony outside of Buckingham Palace. However on this tour, handpicked vantage points ensure you get the best views of the royal tradition while listening to commentary that explains each part of the performance.

Marvel at the shimmering coats of the household cavalry as their riders control the horses with expert precision; capture photographs of the iconic red and black attire of the Queen’s foot soldiers; and, move quickly between vantage points in a small group of only 15 people.

Your tour concludes outside of Buckingham Palace.

Please note: The Changing of the Guard ceremony is subject to changes in date, time and cancellation at the discretion of British authorities. Cancellation due to bad weather is not announced before 11am. Even when cancelled, customers will still see a ‘wet change’ during which the guards march but without the usual music and parade.

It was nice to learn a bit about the changing of the guard ceremony and what all was happening during the actual event. We went to 3 different spots to watch different aspects of it. If you just want to be at the front gates to watch you’d have to get there before 9am and probably wouldn’t know what was happening anyway. This tour was definitely worth the money.

Very disappointed. I booked a tour with the expectation that the tour groups would have space set aside for decent viewing. Not so. We could not see anything. Very disappointing. Tour guide didn't have a microphone, so many tours on our day they ran out

Tour guide showed up sick. Spoke little English and was too quiet to hear. We left the tour mid way.

Our tour guide, Steven, was very personable and professional. He told wonderful tales about the Royal family and their past. He posititioned us in a great spot to witness the changing of the guard. Meet up was well organized and easy to find

About the tour: Change of guard is free of charge - arrive at the location and you can witness it yourself. Why book the Tour: I think tours and history is made interesting in the way it is narrated. We got David from City Wonders. Great guy - very knowledgeable about the history - great story teller - though some are made up - yet interesting. What can be better - I saw some of the other tour guides doing this. David you should also click 1 photo of all your tour groups. It will be fun.

Do not spend your $ on this! We missed everything due to the guide’s pace. Stopped far from the horse parade to talk. Turned around and they had departed. Spend time focusing on birds at St James Park rather than getting us to Buckingham Palace. Went 10 minutes at a time in silence multiple times and by the time we reached the palace, he has us behind the Victoria Monument which blocks your view completely. Could not see a single part of the ceremony. No commentary while we were there. No information on the palace et from the guide. Contacted Viator immediately for a refund and it has been refused. Do not book this tour. You are better off arriving at the Victoria Monument an hour early on your own. FALSELY ADVERTISED as Viator claims you will see the ceremony from exclusive vantage points.

This might be a tourist trap, do the research and take the time to familiarize yourself with the ceremony and area before going! I read the reviews which led me to book, but being ignorant to the festivities myself got me swindled into this tours trap! Despite aspects of the guided tour being informational I was extremely bummed afterwards. We did not visit any of the exclusive sights, we missed various performances by the guards before they marched to Buckingham, walked through a garden that was beautiful but had nothing to do with the ceremony and we were ultimately led to a very poor viewing spot alongside a thousand other tourists that saw the same thing we did but for free. It was not worth the money. Our guide was very sweet, but maybe wasn’t aware what the tour was supposed to include. I recommend researching and visiting the exclusive viewing spots (where you can watch the uniform inspection, band set up and March alongside the guards from the different entry points) on your own without the aid of a tour! Something I regret not doing myself, but was under the impression would be organized for me during the tour!

Pepe, our tour guide was fun and engaging including everyone and have us so much interesting information with plenty of details not many people would know. We had an excellent position to see the horses and all enjoyed it!
