Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Stonehenge, Amesbury SP4 7DE England

You will be picked up from your central London accommodation by your own private driver and guide and following a relaxed, scenic drive arrive in the beautiful Salisbury Plains.

A fully private guided tour of the Stonehenge Site at your leisure including time to visit the Museum, Restaurant and Shop. Your personal guide will be on hand to help take photographs and bring the history of Stonehenge to life.

Stonehenge continues to baffle and inspire Archaeologists and Historians. The exact when, how, why, and who questions still challenge the top professionals. Perhaps this is part of the reason that over 1 million people visit this ancient site each year.

Your guide will explain all the main theories, including the folklore and King Arthur connections in a fun, relaxed and informative way.

Once you have enjoyed the World Heritage site at your leisure, it will be time to drive through an area of outstanding natural beauty as we make our way to another Heritage site, the ancient City of Bath. The journey takes one hour, but you won't notice as you will be busy enjoying the stunning views as we drive through rural England.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Sally Lunn’s Historic Eating House & Museum, 4 N Parade, Passage, Bath BA1 1NX, UK

Sally Lunn's Tea Room is located in Bath's oldest house dating back to 1492. This is a perfect spot to take lunch and try the famous "Bath Bun" said to have been created by Sally Lunn in the late 1600's. If you are not hungry at this point there is a small Museum and Bun take away service.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Bath Abbey, Bath BA1 1LT England

Included in the day trip is a walking tour of the historic centre of Bath including an optional visit to Bath Abbey. The Abbey is important as it was one of the last major Christian buildings built before Henry VIII split with the Catholic Church. Your guide will make sure you see all the key locations within the historic quarter of Bath.

Founded as a town by the Romans who viewed the natural hot springs as sacred, the settlement flourished and the Roman Baths became one of the most impressive buildings in Roman Britain. Neglected during the dark ages, the Baths had a renaissance in the 18th Century, and continued to be used until the late 1970's.

They say the Doctors of Bath specialised in certain diseases, and those were the diseases of the rich! Wealthy visitors would flock to the Pump Room to follow their Doctors orders for their various ailments that would be cured in the waters of Bath.

On your walk around the centre of Bath you will see the buildings that inspired Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, and where the Aristocracy spent their leisure time in the highly fashionable Bath Spa of the Georgian and Regency periods.

Bath is protected from development, so here you will see some of the best Georgian and Regency architecture in England. Plus you will also have time to explore the many shops and alleys in this beautiful city.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: The Roman Baths, Abbey Church Yard, Bath BA1 1LZ England

After a tour of the historic area of Bath, you will be taken into the Roman Baths. You will have a guided introduction to the world heritage site and then be able to tour the museum at your leisure. Your guide will be on hand to assist with Photographs and help you get the best out of your visit.

At the end of the tour you may wish to try the mineral rich water traditionally thought to cure all manner of complaints.

The plumbing here is 2000 years old and going strong. But don't worry the water you try is pumped through slightly newer pipes!

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Royal Crescent, Royal Cresent, Bath BA1 1EE England

Built by John Wood The Younger, the Royal Crescent was the centre of high society in Bath. The aristocracy held balls in the lavish rooms of the crescent, and Jane Austen often satirized regency period Bath in her novels.

The Royal Crescent and the nearby Circus are two of the most photographed places in Bath and once you see their sweeping Georgian facades you will understand why.

Richard, our tour guide and also the owner of the tour company, was prompt in picking us up at our London hotel and very conscious of the need to arrive at Stonehenge just as it opened in order to avoid the worst of the crowds. He was very knowledgeable and made sure we saw all aspects of the site. He made sure we took as much time as we wanted for our sightseeing and picture-taking. Then we traveled to Bath, where again he provided important background information and allowed as much time as we wanted. He had several suggestions for places to eat lunch depending on our interest. This tour is a long day because of the driving distance to be covered. While we were traveling Richard provided information on what we were planning to see but also gave recommendations for future sightseeing in the UK additionally he had questions and interest in our home city and state in the US. This tour met all our expectations.

Fabulous private tour of Stonehenge and Bath with Richards Tours was the perfect way to start an anniversary trip to London! Richard is the perfect guide-personable, very knowledgeable, and really made the trip fun and very comfortable! Also loved his anecdotes on history and music. Highly recommend this tour and hope to do another tour with Richard on next trip to London!

I considered all the options for a trip to Stonghenge. Did not want to go to four or five sites in one day, just wanted two sites to get spend more time at those sites. Richards Tours was absolutely perfect. Was picked up promptly at 8 am, then the drive to Stonghenge, where all along the way he entertained my husband and I with lovely conversation and shared his great knowledge of history. Having him by our sides as we toured Stonghenge gave it deeper meaning. Then we were off to Bath, and the same lovely experience continued. We had a delightful lunch at Sally Lunds and then on to the Roman Baths. When WE had had enough, we left, not when a tour bus and all the others on a tour bus were leaving. You can spend as much or as little time as you want on the tour. We cannot recommend this delightful way to sneak a little peek into the UK enough. Richard is kind, very considerate and extremely knowledgeable.

Richard was an outstanding guide who made early British history come alive. My wife and enjoyed a pleasant, leisurely day visiting Stonehenge and Bath. Even the lunch experience at Sally Lunn's Eating House and Museum was a delight. Thank you, Richard, for your time and experience as our guide for a day. We are definitely calling you again the next time we are in London.

Another outstanding day with Richard! The tour is long as it takes some time to get to Bath, but his knowledge of the city is terrific! We got great pictures of the Royal Crescent and the Poultney Bridge (even with it blocked off for filming). He gives you plenty of time at The Baths and we all went to Sally Lund's Bun House for lunch! We felt like we saw a lot and left to Stonehenge. He knowledge of Stonehenge is also outstanding! We had plenty of time for pictures and to wander around the Stones. Back at our hotel before 6. Once again, Richard impressed us with his knowledge, friendliness, promptness. Will book again for our next UK trip!

My sister, our good friend, and myself (all slightly older than middle-aged women) had booked a Jane Austen tour with Richard on a Thursday. Luckily the tour was highly successful because we had also reserved the Stonehenge/Bath tour with him for the very next day. By the time he dropped us off at our hotel the first evening we already felt like Richard was family. When he picked us up Friday morning we visited in his (very clean) car like old friends (he is also a good driver). We arrived at Stonehenge just at opening time and this allowed us ample time to go through the interpretive center before going to the actual site. Being so early meant we practically had the place to ourselves and Richard obligingly took many photos of us. As we drove to Bath, Richard entertained us with interesting historical facts. Once in Bath he proved to be quite knowledgeable and, knowing we were interested in Jane Austen, was able to point out sites where she had lived. He walked us through Bath and we had lunch at Sally Lunn’s before visiting the Roman Baths. Again, he was very informative yet was always considerate of other visitors by keeping his voice down and not blocking the flow of traffic. We never, at any time, felt pressured to hurry and were able to take all the time we needed. I had been to Stonehenge and Bath once before on a large group bus tour. After spending three days (yes, we booked a third tour but that’s another review) with Richard, we are spoiled. I cannot imagine ever taking another bus tour again. Richard is simply the best.

My husband and I booked a day tour with Richard through TripAdvisor. We really liked the fact that it wouldn't be a big bus tour with 50 to 100 of other people and would instead just be the two of us with Richard. It allowed us to customize the tour to our liking. Richard picked us up early at our hotel the day of the royal wedding in a comfortable car. We choose that day thinking the sites might not be as crowed. The fact that we didn't have to find our own transportation to go on the tour was just another bonus. Richard was very friendly and knowledgeable. Not only did he provide us with information on Stonehenge and Bath, but it was fun to talk to him about the wedding and the royal family. Being from the US it was interesting to get a local's perspective on it all. Richard planned the day so that we were on the first bus out to Stonehenge to allow us some time to enjoy it and take a few pictures before it was overwhelmed with visitors. Something we would have never thought of on our own but were so grateful he did. In Bath he recommended a great little restaurant for lunch that again we might not have found on our own. We really enjoyed our day with Richard and would enjoy taking another tour with him on another trip.

Richard Chambers of Richard's Tours was great. He picked us up on time and provided us with great conversation for 10 hours. He showed us everything at Bath and Stonehenge, tolerated our 11 yo son. It was a great long day and we learned a lot and I can't imagine a better experience.

Richard is very knowledgable about everything! So interesting to talk to! And he makes everything easy - tickets all ready in advance, he stood in any lines and then whisked us in everywhere. And he tailors it to your interests. Never seemed like he was rushing us or had any agenda other that to make our day wonderful and it was!!
