Stop At: The British Museum, Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3DG England

Begin your half day experience by exploring the cultures and civilizations through the monumental collection at the British Museum spanning 6000 years of human history. It features items from all over the world like Samurai armor and rare Assyrian lion hunt reliefs. Your guide will take a serious but enjoyable approach towards the museum’s galleries, discussing primitive tribes and fallen empires through a carefully chosen selection of items. You’ll learn about the Mummy of Katebet, the Lewis Chessmen, and the Rosetta Stone – the actual rock, not the language learning program. Walk away with an understanding of what we humans have achieved during our short history and hopefully you’ll be proud to call yourself a part of this incredible species.

Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Stop At: National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DN England

After a break for lunch, learn about the master painters whose names fill the halls of the National Gallery. You’ve heard of Seurat and da Vinci, but what do you really know about them? Learn about the painters behind the paintings as we browse our favorite works by other masters like Botticelli, Monet, Rembrandt, and Vermeer. If none of those names mean anything to you, your guide will make sure that changes by the end of the tour. The National Gallery houses paintings dating back to the 1300s all the way up through the 1900s, so there is no shortage of choice. Visit Jan van Eyck’s “The Arnolfini Portrait” or something more familiar like Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” to understand the full scope of work on display. During your tour, you'll be arm with the essential information and history needed to appreciate the more than 2300 paintings on display at one of the world’s most visited museums.

Anthony was our guide for this combined tour on Sept 7th. He did not disappoint! He was extremely knowledgeable and his humor added to the enjoyment of the day. It was very obvious he likes his job and even started the tour early as soon as we arrived to be able to give us even more information while we waited for the museum to open.

Luis was a great guide. At every stop other people not in our tour would gather to hear what he had to say. A really epic day. Highly recommended.

The number of items on display is dizzying, so it was wonderful to have a guide to help focus on some specific pieces as well as sharing the knowledge and history of the works.

We purchased a private tour with a lady named Matilda who works for babylon travel. I would highly recommend asking for her as you're tour guide. I have been to museums in the past and quite frankly did not appreciate art or sculptures in general but Matilda completely changed my mind. She talked about the different mediums artist used and how they progressed and changed over the years. Matilda talked about the lives of the artists, who they were influenced by why and what motivated them this also included the sculptures that we saw in the artist who made them which brought them all to life for me and my wife and son.

Decided to see both the British Museum and the National Gallery in a single day, quite ambitious, even with two amazing guides. Andy met us at the British Museum and gave us a very good overview and highlights of this massive museum. Wish we could have spent more time at the Elgin marbles and Rosetta Stone. We had someone that asked a lot of mundane questions that definitely slowed us down. Poor Andy. We were handed off to Becky to tour the National Gallery. I just want to say that we’ve had guided tours of many art museums throughout the world and we learned more about art in the 2.5 hours with her than all the other tours combined. Becky was charming, witty, and very knowledgeable. I learned so much about the works, but also art in general that I’m sure I’ll be thinking about for years to come. Thank you Becky for sharing your love and knowledge of art with us!

Ask for Anthony. He was truly knowledgeable and made sure to answer all of our questions. I would return to get a more expanded tour of the museum with him.

The enthusiasm and knowledge that Stephanie has of these two museums was incredible! Not only did she have a wealth of knowledge, but she made everything we saw interesting and exciting. I ended up with a private tour of the National Gallery. What a way to see these magnificent museums. You see the top pieces, learn facts and miss those items your not interested in viewing. This is the only way to see these museums. Definitely using Get Your Guide and Babylon Tours again.
