Hever Castle was highly recommended by a friend, so my husband and I were anxious to see it. Because we were staying in London and had no car, John picked us up promptly at the train station. His car was very comfortable and he provided water for us. John was very friendly right from the start and very easy to talk to. We arrived just as Hever Castle was opening. We told John that we had an interest in gardening and since rain was predicted later, we toured the spectacular gardens first. He was very patient and allowed us to view things at our own pace, while also stopping to take our photo for us and explaining things along the way. We ventured into Hever Castle after viewing the grounds. We had a marvelous time and found John to be quite knowledgeable about the history of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. It was a wonderful day for my husband and me. We highly recommend a tour of Hever Castle with John England.

Amazing grounds. It wasn't very busy and we went through the house twice, which allowed to revisit items of particular interest.

What a wonderful tour with an excellent, knowledgeable guide. John was delightful and knew exactly when to let us explore on our own and when to help us through the historical experience. We will definitely book more of his tours when we visit the UK again!

Everything was perfect and hassle-free from beginning to end. My daughter loves all things Anne Boleyn so she was in heaven. John had the perfect balance of information while still giving us our own time. He answered all of Emily's questions and took wonderful pictures of us. Highly recommend John!!

The unusual Tudor house within the castle that was once where Ann Boleyn lived gave it a special significance. The gardens that were magnificent and awesome. John England was an excellent guide - very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend John England’s private tours as you can visit the castle n gardens at your own pace without the need to conform to the schedule of a bus tour. Besides John gives personalised attention with much historical information. His driving is safe and his vehicle very comfortable. John made my trip a very special memorable one. Thanks John for being such a fantastic guide!

We had a fantastic day at Hever Castle thanks to John. I organized the trip for my elderly parents, and John made sure that the day ran smoothly. His local knowledge is invaluable! We appreciated the drive to and from Hever, where we were able to see the beautiful countryside and learn more about the history of the region. John has a wonderful relationship with all the members of the Hever Castle team and was instrumental in finding us the quiet corners away from any groups, so we could enjoy our visit even more. We highly recommend stopping by the Henry VIII pub for lunch if possible, as we experienced excellent food and service there. If you are looking for a memorable day in the English countryside, filled with Tudor history, then a private tour with John is absolutely worth considering. Thank you John for an unforgettable day!

Our day trip to Hever Castle with John was a complete success starting with the incredibly easy train ride from London Victoria station to Bromley south station in Kent. I don’t think that it took more than 15 minutes and contactless payment(Apple Pay) makes it so simple. John who was in constant radio contact picked us up at the train station and we were on our way! We drove through the gorgeous Kent countryside on a fine Spring day and arrived at Hever about an hour later ready to hit the ground running. John allowed us to set the pace (slow and casual) and we had a great conversation about the area and post-Covid travel. He’s a wealth of local knowledge. The tulips were still out and the grounds are beautifully maintained. We are on a bit of a Tudor history jag recently having fortified our interest with a few podcasts ( Not Just the Tudors) on Anne Boleyn. Not only does John know his history but also knows the curators and staff who he introduced us to within the castle house itself. Minor celebs for sure!! Because this is the childhood home of Anne, the staff curators had just opened an exhibit called Becoming Anne Boleyn which features many rare and genuine artifacts from her life. It was a marvelous day thanks to John.

It was an amazing day at Hever, lots of history and things to see. The grounds are meticulously maintained, and there was a little restaurant with good food and a big garden. Really enjoyed eating outside on a sunny day. The immediate vicinity of the manor has some shops and a maze, but if walking a little bit outside this area, there is a wonderful park that gets missed by tourists, for a quiet and tranquil walk. John is a very knowledgeable guide, regaling with stories throughout the journey. Highly recommend it!
